Fun on a Tuesday Night!

This post is half personal fun and half school fun!

Some of you may already know that I am a HUGE Broncos fan. I love football. I do.
That's me Tebowing on the right...that's my dad with the sweet Broncos shorts.

However, I am also a GIGANTIC Colorado Avalanche fan. I love hockey. Almost as much as football.

So some of you may also know that football is the only sport making me happy right now. Because the NHL is having some.....problems. No one can get along. Apparently, that means we can't even play together.

So. No hockey right now. :-(

However, to try and make up for NO HOCKEY, the Avalanche organization invited us to an open skate night. ON THE ICE. At the PEPSI CENTER.

How could we say no?

We had such a fun time! They even had pizza and pop for us! It was a great way to end the day. It also reminded me that there's never a bad time to try something new. {I only fell one and a half times.}

Now for some school fun!

You might remember that my class decided on and created their own Africa projects to show me what they learned. You can see that post {here}.

Today, we shared our projects! I had them get into groups: one that studied rainforests, one that studied savannas and one that studied deserts.

They shared their projects while the others took notes!
A couple of the posters turned out really great!
They did an excellent job presenting and it was great to see everyone learning from each other. They even asked great questions!

All in all a good day!

Wrapping Up Africa {Fun Friday!}

I know, I know. It's not Friday, but Kelly says we can link up anytime! Here's my Fun Friday for this week...check it out and then go link up with Kelly at Teaching Fourth with your Fun Friday!
Aren't these pilgrim hats cute? I'm a Denver Bronco fan - loving this season! Purple hasn't always been my favorite color, but I love it now. :-) Check out below to see what we did with our Africa projects this week!

We spent most of our Social Studies time the past few weeks learning about African regions. We all learned about each region, but then students picked the region they wanted to learn more about.

In groups, they filled out a graphic organizer about their region using books from the library and videos we watched in class.

Finally, they were able to choose how to show me everything they learned. They came up with a few ideas and then we all agreed on what would need to be included in their projects, no matter what they decided to do.

They chose their partners from their regions group and got to work!

They were so engaged in these projects! I can't wait to display them in the hallway!

Have a great Monday all!

It's the Weekend! Let's Party! {linky style}

Really quickly, I want to say hello to all my newest followers! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog and join up... :-)

OK...now on to the partying portion of this post!

Storie at Stories by Storie is having a linky party. Now, everyone here knows I can't resist a linky party in the first place, but this one really grabbed my attention.

I. Love. Thanksgiving. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Hmmmmm...family, friends, food and football???

It doesn't get better than that.

So that's why I am so excited to link up with Storie for her Top Ten Things I Am Thankful For....linky party.
I think that Thanksgiving is the perfect time of year to pause and reflect on all the things we can be thankful for. After a rough month of October (come on, we all know October's tough), November gives us a chance to slow down and reflect. Even though sometimes we feel like there aren't many things, we can always find something to give thanks for. So here's my list...
This list could be much longer. After I saved it, I probably thought about 10 more. Now, head over to Stories by Storie and link up with your list. I have loved reading everyone's... :-)

****Pssst....I'm telling you a secret...you can win a $10 TPT gift certificate if you link up...****

Last, but not least, I saw this adorable idea from Allie at The Gypsy Teacher. It sounds like a great way to highlight things to be thankful for in your classroom.
Click the picture to take you to her blog post.
I think I am going to try something similar...I don't have room for the tree part, but we can always make room for being thankful. :-) Maybe my kids might just write something in their journal. Or a poem? I guess I'm just brainstorming...I'll let you know which idea I decide on. Or you could leave me an idea in the comments? Yes, please!

Right now, I'm thankful it's Saturday! Have a great weekend everybody!

Seriously? November {Currently} Already? YAY!

I cannot believe that it is November already. This year is completely flying by...

Here is November's Currently from Farley at Oh Boy! 4th Grade! Yay!

Wanting: The sleep thing is a big issue in my life right now! I just need to catch up! :-)

Needing: I think the people at the McDonald's around the corner from school are starting to recognize me. SO, I either need a good disguise or a trip to the store.

Music: "Emancipator" is electronic music. It's very downtempo and it's great for work time! The kids like it and I love it when I'm working after school or on the weekends. Since it doesn't have words, it easy to just let it blend into the background.

Don't forget to go link up at Oh Boy! 4th Grade and make your own Currently!

Tomorrow is the last day for my 100 Follower Giveaway! Make sure you get your entries in so you can be the lucky winner!
